Case: Metallbau Loosen GmbH Greater efficiency in the metalworking trade.
Use of the Cobot Move at Metallbau Loosen.
Metallbau Loosen primarily manufactures custom structures such as steel balconies, railings, staircases and stair towers. However, its portfolio also includes medium-sized bridges, industrial buildings and steel structures weighing up to 50 tonnes or more. Founded in 2003 by Bernd Loosen and now run jointly with his son Lukas and Dipl.-Ing. Ingo Heiß, the company, based in Cochem-Brauheck, has since made a name for itself beyond the region as an excellent specialist workshop for metalworking. Until now, welding at the nine-person family business had been carried out exclusively by hand. The purchase of the welding cobot has not only significantly increased productivity and reduced the workload on staff. Its rapid integration into the working environment and ease of use have also been convincing factors. A further advantage for the company: the system could be tested under a rental scheme before purchase.
Metallbau Loosen GmbH & Co. KG at a glance.
Quick installation and easy operation.
Maximum productivity through automated welding processes.
The cobot can be installed and commissioned quickly and easily, and thanks to its intuitive software, it is simple to operate even without extensive prior knowledge. It also delivers a significant boost in efficiency within the company. For example, thanks to the cobot, a single employee was able to complete the welding of supports in the time that would otherwise have required three workers. At the same time, the cobot ensures consistently high quality over many hours and, compared to manual welding, produces significantly fewer spatter marks. This also means that rework is considerably reduced. The combination of the system with the Cobot Move, a linear axis that not only extends the working radius for long workpieces but also enables welding in nested mode, has also proved ideal. This allowed four workpieces to be welded in a single pass. Functions such as QuickPoints and SmartCopy are also very helpful when ‘teaching’ the weld seam. With QuickPoints, waypoints and welding commands are adopted directly at the touch of a button, allowing complex components to be fully programmed in minimal time. SmartCopy enables welding sequences already programmed for one component to be copied and transferred to identical parts.
Easy programming:
Thanks to a simple user interface and pre-programmed optimal characteristic curves, the welding process can be programmed quickly.
The Cobotronic software makes all the difference:
Practical functions such as QuickPoints and SmartCopy make teaching the component significantly easier and more efficient.
Significant increase in productivity:
By combining the cobot with the Cobot Move linear axis, four supports can be welded in a single operation.
Clean weld seams and minimal spatter:
The welding cobot significantly minimises rework. The cobot thus saves valuable working time and costs.
Impressive in practical use.
- Seamless integration into existing production environments
- Intuitive operation of the Cobotronic software
- Significant increase in efficiency and reduced workload for staff
- Extended working radius and welding in nested mode thanks to Cobot Move
- Faster teaching of the weld seam using functions such as QuickPoints and SmartCopy
- Option to test the system on a rental basis
